Wedding Decorators in Delhi: What Décor Actually Costs, and Why
Two décor quotes for the same wedding can differ by half. Almost always, it is one of five things.

Families regularly show us two décor quotes for the same venue, the same date and what looks like the same design, twenty or forty per cent apart. The gap is almost never one company being greedy. It is usually that the two quotes are for genuinely different things.
Here is what actually drives the number.
1. Fresh flowers versus artificial
This is the single biggest variable, and the one most often glossed over. Fresh floral work — especially imported stems — is expensive, perishable, and has to be installed close to the event. Good-quality artificial florals cost more upfront per unit but are reusable, survive stage lighting all evening, and can be built days ahead.
A cheaper quote is frequently an artificial quote. That is not a problem in itself — for a hanging ceiling installation under hot lights, artificial is often the *better* engineering choice. It becomes a problem when nobody told you.
Ask any decorator in Delhi to mark the quote element by element: fresh, artificial, or mixed. A company that will not is telling you something.
2. Structure and fabrication
Draping a frame that already exists is cheap. Building a custom structure — a mandap with a real roof load, a raised platform, a fabricated backdrop — means carpentry, material, transport, labour and a rigging plan.
When a design gets described as "the same, just simpler", check whether what changed was the flowers or the structure. Removing florals saves a little. Removing a build saves a lot.
3. The setup window your venue allows
This is the cost driver nobody expects. If your banquet releases the hall four hours before guests arrive, everything must be prefabricated off site and installed by a much larger crew working fast. That is a different — and more expensive — operation than a farmhouse that gives you the lawn from the previous evening.
Before comparing quotes, confirm the load-in time in writing and give the same number to every decorator. Two quotes built on different setup assumptions cannot be compared at all. Our Delhi NCR venue guide covers which venue types typically give you what.
4. What the venue restricts
Hotels in particular restrict ceiling rigging, floor fixing and open flame. A design that hangs from the ceiling at a farmhouse has to be rebuilt as a freestanding structure in a ballroom — same visual result, considerably more material and labour.
Empanelment matters too. Many Delhi hotels have an approved décor list, and bringing an outside team can attract a fee that lands on your bill rather than the decorator’s.
5. How many functions are being dressed
Décor priced per function adds up faster than families expect, because haldi, mehendi, sangeet, wedding and reception each need their own build, crew and strike. Where the same venue hosts consecutive functions, ask whether elements can be reused or re-dressed overnight — the saving is real and it is a fair question.
How to compare two décor quotes properly
- 01Give both companies the identical brief: venue, date, setup window, functions, guest count and budget ceiling.
- 02Ask for the quote broken down by element — mandap, stage, entrance, ceiling, tables, lighting — not one lump figure.
- 03Ask which elements are fresh and which are artificial.
- 04Ask what is excluded: labour overtime, generator, transport, strike, taxes.
- 05Ask for photographs of a comparable build they have actually delivered, not a render.
A render flatters florals and light. Ask to see a photograph of the same design after it was built.
Where to spend, and where not to
If the budget is tight, our honest ranking for a Delhi wedding:
- Spend on the entrance and the first ninety seconds. It sets the tone for the whole evening and every guest passes through it.
- Spend on lighting. It does more for how a room feels — and photographs — than an equivalent spend on flowers.
- Spend on the mandap or stage, because it is where the cameras point for hours.
- Spend less on ceiling installations in a hall with a low ceiling. It will not read.
- Spend less on elaborate table centrepieces guests have to talk around. Low and simple photographs better anyway.
We design and install décor as a standalone scope, or as part of full wedding planning. Send us the venue and date and we will come back with a design direction and a costed build approach.
